When you are ready to look into your options for a good Medicare Advantage policy, you need to find a company that is authorized to sell Advantage, and then you can look into your options for Medicare Part D. Part D will help to cover your prescription costs, but you must be enrolled in Medicare Part A or B first. However, there are only certain times of the year in which you can apply for Part D coverage, so an agent will be able to walk you through all of the steps for enrollment. You may have two different types of Part D coverage; most beneficiaries are enrolled in Medicare Advantage or the Prescription Drug Plan.

During your Medicare Part D sign up process, be sure to take note of any and all policy information. You need to be able to retrieve documents for future reference, and so back up copies are always a good idea, and keep your agent’s information as well. In addition, be sure to look closely at every aspect of the policy, from the prescription plan to the HMO exclusions and stipulations. This will ensure that you are fully aware of your rights, duties and benefits as a member of the Part D plan.
