The government will investigate and approve companies whom they then work with to provide Medicare to beneficiaries. American Family Insurance – Also known as AmFam, they are probably better known for specialising in property, casualty and automotive insurance, but they do have a subsidiary company who deals with health insurance. They are one of the oldest insurance companies in America, beginning in 1927 as an insurance company for farmers looking to insure their vehicles in Wisconsin.
Bankers Life – Another one of the oldest insurance groups in the US, Bankers Life was first established in 1879 in Chicago. Bankers Life is an insurance provider who deals specifically with insurance for the retired community and the older generation. As a result of this focus, they mainly provide life insurance, long term care insurance, Medicare packages, including Parts C and D, as well as vision and dental plans through a partnership with another insurance company.
Premera Blue Cross – Premera Blue Cross is a non-profit licensee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association, and they provide insurance for those who reside in Washington state as well as Alaska. They also offer cover to those living in Oregon under the branding of Life wise.
Tricare – Previously known as the Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS), provides healthcare and insurance services for those employed by the Department of Defence. These include civilian health plans for those in service, retirees who have served and their dependents.
